About JoyEileenArt

Welcome! I’m Joy, a New York City mama, artist, and lifelong explorer of color, texture, and connection. 

My Creative Journey:

  • Born and raised in New York, I earned my Bachelor’s in Psychology from SUNY Geneseo before heading off to explore a little bit of our big world. My travels took me through western and a bit of eastern Europe, then to life in Miami and Atlanta, where I began my career as an ESL teacher.

  • A year living in Brazil deepened my love for cross‑cultural connection, and in 2001 I returned to NYC to teach at a community college while working in design. 

  • Over time, I realized that art was my true creative home- a place where my passions for cultural inclusion, community, and self expression could come together. 

Why I Create:

Art, for me, is an act of gratitude. It’s how I celebrate the everyday beauty around us and to share that spark of curiosity within. Each stroke, swirl, and color choice is infused with appreciation—for nature, for small rituals, and for the meaningful connections we make.
